One of the most obnoxious parts of the Republican propaganda campaign against the left is the constant blaming of Barak Obama for America’s problems and the disparagment of his incredible accomplishments. Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders on Saturday hit back at the right, deciding “to poke fun at Republicans for blaming all their problems on President Obama, and suggesting they suffer from ‘amnesia’ over George W. Bush’s presidency.” Republicans live in another world and “in their world, every problem that you can possibly imagine is caused by Barack Obama…If there is rain, if it’s too hot, if there’s a mosquito in the room, it is all Barack Obama.”
A weak economy is “always” the Democratic president’s fault, however, if a Republican president “presides over the worst financial crisis in a half-century after seven years in office, that is clearly the fault of poor people” said Sanders sarcastically. Sanders was rightly furious at the false narrative propogated by the right, where the people who were encouraged to buy homes and participate in the American dream are blamed for perpetrating a great fraud on the American people and tanking the economy in 2008, instead of blaming the newly deregulated banks using absurd amounts of leverage in crazy financial deals. Of course, President Obama was later blamed by the Republicans for the $700 billion taxpayer funded bailout that was approved under the Bush Administration in October 2008 – three months before Obama took office.
